Vinita S. Watts, MD
Dr. Watts provides child and adolescent psychiatry services and medication management for Centerstone Health Services, specializing in treating OCD and ADHD. She is also the Chief Medical Officer for Centerstone Health Services. She has worked at the Marr Road facility in Columbus for 30+ years. Her focus is on helping the children in her care heal and thrive, which often involves the whole family.
When she was very young, Dr. Watts knew that she wanted to be a doctor. Her father was a psychiatrist, and her grandfather was a psychologist, so going into psychiatry seemed like the natural thing to do. However, it wasn’t until after medical school, during her residency, that she decided to specialize in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She chose to work with kids because that’s where she felt she could have the most positive impact and help prevent adult mental illness down the road.
Watts attended the University of Kentucky for her undergraduate studies and medical school. She also completed her residency and a fellowship at the school. She earned a BS in Biology in 1981 and graduated from medical school in 1985. In addition, Dr. Watts completed her residency in Adult Psychiatry in 1988 and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1989, holding board certifications in both areas of expertise.
